The Eternal Flame at Scotland Yard

When we were approached by the main contractor, BAM for the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of the eternal flame at one of the world’s most famous police headquarters, the New Scotland Yard in London, we were extremely honored to be given the opportunity to work on such a meaningful project.

The eternal flame that sits outside The New Scotland Yard building on the Victoria Embankment resembles all of the fallen heroes within the UK’s police force.

Having designed and manufactured many bespoke decorative flames over our 40 years of trading, we have never quite had anything quite as exciting and meaningful as this. We had an extremely short schedule work to, and faced the issue of ensuring that the flame stayed alight at all times and in all weathers. The burner was successfully fitted in 2016 with the unveiling of the complete new building taking place in 2017. We had to carry out many maintenance visits for the first 12 months of the flames service to keep our eye on how the flame would hold up when it actually became subject to the beautiful British weather and it is now withstanding, wind, rain & snow!
